Religious Freedom Summit Coming
One of the lasting hallmarks of the beloved President Donald J. Trump and his deeply committed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was the two Religious Freedom Ministerial in 2018 and 2019.
A Ministerial is a special conference which is held in which Foreign Ministers and other officials from various countries gather for consultation on international affairs of importance.
The Ministerial concept was turned into the first Religious Freedom Ministerial in which nearly 80 Foreign Ministers and other government officials gathered in a massive tent in the center of the State Department, along with dozens of international aid, religious freedom and other organizations to discuss and put together a framework for an international religious freedom regime to push forward the cause that is close to the Presidents heart.
Led by former Kansas Senator, Kansas Governor and most recently Ambassador for International Religious Freedom, the concept was based on the International Religious Freedom Act which was passed with the strong vision of former Congressman Frank Wolf, Senator Brownback and others which established the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom which is chartered by the US Government to annually report on and act on religious freedom throughout the world.
With the passing of the Trump Administration the torch has even passed to the International Religious Freedom Summit 2021 which from July 13-15 will gather Religious Freedom advocates under the theme “Standing fo Religious Freedom for Everyone, everywhere, all the time”.
An estimated nearly 300 million Christians live under persecution with 10-20 losing their life every day due to their faith and it is the goal of the summit to gather resources and people together to stand up for those being persecuted worldwide.
“The purpose of the conference is to put together a coalition of organizations and individuals working for religious freedom so we can continue the momentum of the past three years and put together a network of information, support and action” said co chair, Sam Brownback who shares the position with Gayle Manchin, former Chair of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom and wife of Senator Joe Manchin, bringing a bipartisan framework to the important work.
Senator Christ Coons and Senator James Lankford are the Senatorial Co-Chairs, sharing duties with Congressman Henry Cuellar and Chris Smith along with major international organizations including Alliance Defending Freedom, Family Research Council, Open Doors, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Assocation, The Religious Freedom Institute, the Philos Project, Samaritans Purse, International Christian Concern and other organizations.
“We are looking forward to a fruitful time of network building, information exchange and following through on the momentum that has developed that has seen major progress in Religious Freedom in countries such as Sudan, while working to further advance religious freedom in major problem countries ranging form China to countries throughout the Middle East, Africa and more” continues Brownback.
“We are asking believers to pray for the conference, let your Churches and other groups know, sign up, support and help us as we watch God raise up help for the hundreds of millions suffering for the cause of Christ”.
Registration for the conference is at www.irf summit.com and a number of opportunities still remain for organizations that would like to have a booth, be part of the event and more and to www.mypillow.com code “whl”.
